Privacy policy

Rudraneel Das (sole proprietor, trading as Kāla) ("we") operates Kāla. This policy explains what we collect and why, in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect

• Account: your email address (to sign you in and send account emails).
• Questions and answers: the questions you ask and the answers produced, stored privately so forecasts can be scored when they resolve and to improve the Service. They are never published with your identity.
• Usage details stored with each question: whether you were signed in, whether a free answer or bought credits paid for it, how it was asked (typed, an example button, a re-ask), and a short one-way code (a salted hash of your account id, or of a random id your browser keeps for itself if you are not signed in). The code lets us count how many different people ask and how many come back; it contains no email or IP address and cannot be turned back into your identity without a secret key we hold.
• Optional survey: if you answer "what will you mostly use Kāla for?", only your choice and the time are saved, with no account, email or IP, so it can only be counted.
• Payments: order and payment references from Razorpay, the plan and credits. We never receive your card, UPI or bank details.
• Technical: IP address and basic request logs, used for security and rate limits.
• Waitlist: if you join it, your email and consent.

Who processes it

Supabase (accounts and database), Google Cloud (hosting and AI models: Vertex AI, including Google Search grounding), Razorpay (payments), Vercel (website). Your questions are sent to these AI services to produce answers.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or withdraw consent, by writing to rudraneel93@gmail.com. Deleting your account removes your credits and stored questions, except records we must keep by law (such as payment records).

Retention

Question records are kept for up to 24 months for scoring; payment records as long as tax law requires; logs for up to 90 days.

Children

The Service is not intended for anyone under 18.
